I've begun the somewhat tedious task of cleaning the bricks from my recent haul and cataloging the missing pieces. First up is the Carribean Clipper, which suffered some significant yellowing (for older bricks, the Bromine fire retardant coat will yellow over time). I did read that using a 3% solution of Hydrogen peroxide can work, but Brooks recommended using denture cleaning tablets. This has proved semi-successful to date, though my pirate flags are still a little ratty looking. Next challenge is bringing the sails back to life.
Of course, life isn't all work and no play. So I decided to muster my garrison of blue soldiers for fun.
I still have some heads, tricorn hats, and black muskets to acquire, but they have the makings of a nice little force in the service of His Blue Majesty. It's a pity I'd rather fonder of the red side, but I'm sure these guys will stand in as cannon targets if I ask nice enough. :)
I also have renamed the project "Tall Ships", and went back and changed post titles retroactively. It certainly sounds better.
