C-2: Penelope's Lament [Carl & Erik H.]

Penelope's Lament, Explorator Scout Class

"I'd flown a lot of tin cans over the years.  From trade sloops, defense cutters, to transport barges.  Some were wallowing cows and others speedy greyhounds straining at the leash.  But the first time I got in the cockpit of a Sparrow Class Scout Ship, I knew I had found my true love."

"The Sparrow is not overly fast or tough, but it is nimble like it's namesake.  It can fly for light years on fumes in its tank and its simple design leaves a lot of room for personalization.    Penelope's Lament is my second of that design.  The first one I had shot out from under me during the Blacktron Schism.  That taught me a valuable lesson; step softly carry a big stick.  Afterwards, Dr. Konga and I spent months adding on to the stock model: Long range scanners, under-slung laser-targetter and dual rail cannon, chin mounted point-defense, astro-navigation computer, hi-rez camera, and a coffee grinder in the galley.  She'd never be accused of being lavish or spacious, but she has all the amenities crammed into her and can give as good as she gets."

"When High Command handed my the mission to explore Brickadia, I declined the bigger ships on offer.  My pa used to tell 'if it's not broke, don't fix it!'  It might not apply perfectly in this case, but it is sound advice none the less.  This is my last trip, and I want something I can depend on to carry me there.  Because in the unknown of space, a captain wants every dependable friend he's got with him."

Special thank to Erik for helping me put this ship together.
